Pinarangalan si Acting Supreme Court Chief Justice Antonio Carpio sa kanyang huling flag – raising ceremony bago ang kanyang pagre retiro sa October 26.
Ginawaran si Carpio ng certificate of appreciation at ng plaque of recognition ng Korte Suprema dahil sa kanyang napakalaking ambag sa hudikatura.
Kinilala ng kanyang kasamang si Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen ang mga nagawa ni Carpio bilang mahistrado ng Korte Surpema.
“Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio…his effort to protect our national sovereignty and ensure the accountability of all government officials remains tireless, unceasing and enlightening. His knowledge and applied wisdom of national and international law is unparalleled. Indeed, the Honorable Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio has earned his place in the history of the Supreme Court. Many of his writings have become canonical. Many more will become so. He will be known as a quintessential scholar, a patient mentor, an enlightened patriotic Filipino, a passionate and just juris and above all else, a leader for the judiciary,” ani Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
Nagpasalamat naman si Carpio sa kanyang mga kasamahan sa hudikatura sa nakalipas na dalawang dekada.
“I’m happy because I have done my best to serve our people and sad because I’am bidding farewell to my family of the last 18 years. I cannot name all of you individually, but you all made my long journey pleasant and productive. I thank most especially my staff legal and non-legal for their loyalty and dedication. They have lightened the heavy burden of my shoulders,” ani Acting Supeme Court Chief Justice Antonio Carpio.
