Sinelyuhan na ng Department of National Defense (DND) sa 30 billion peso contract sa Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) ng South Korea para sa pagbili ng anim na bagong offshore patrol vehicles para sa Philippine Navy.
Nilagdaan nina Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at HHI Vice Chairman and President Sam Hyun ka ang kasunduan sa Camp Aguinaldo noong Lunes.
Sinaksihan ito nina South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Kim In-Cheol, AFP Chief, Gen. Andres Centino at acting Philippine Navy Chief, Rear Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia.
Ayon kay DND Spokesman Director Arsenio Andolong, layunin ng proyekto na palakasin ang maritime patrol capabilities ng Philippine Navy, kabilang ang technology transfer, partikular ang human engineering operators at maintenance training.
Pumirma rin ng Service Support Contract para sa pagpapatuloy ng maintenance ng Jose Rizal-Class Frigates ng Navy.
