The LOANI World Summit, a week-long international gathering that brought together luminaries, trailblazing entrepreneurs, community advocates, and activists from over 50 countries, was graced by the presence of Prof. Leonor Magtolis-Briones, the esteemed head of SEAMEO INNOTECH Center.
The summit, themed “All Means All,” unfolded in grandeur at the Diamond Hotel on October 18 and held significance as a pivotal event for Asia, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to promote unity, empowerment, and meaningful change.
In her captivating plenary address, Prof. Briones paid homage to the unwavering spirit of Filipino women, emphasizing their ability to conquer a multitude of challenges.
She declared, “The Filipino woman’s success knows no bounds.” Prof. Briones also shed light on the essential role of women in positions of authority and highlighted INNOTECH’s exemplary leadership, with herself as the Center Director and Deputy Center Director Kochakorn Khattapan Acidre, a prominent and influential figure.
Moreover, Prof. Briones underscored the significant contributions of women within the Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology. She highlighted numerous educational and technology-driven initiatives that have greatly benefited predominantly female stakeholders.
“More than half of our initiatives, from 2006 to 2023, have been driven by the dedication of women. We have empowered over 146,000 educators across Southeast Asia, extending our services regionally,” she passionately expressed.
To honor her dedication and remarkable achievements, Prof. Briones received a prestigious recognition at the World Class Superheroes Awards, held on October 20 as part of the same event. This award celebrated her outstanding leadership in education, government, and civil society.
Prof. Briones’ illustrious career has spanned various sectors, with a predominant focus on education. She currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines.
Throughout her career, she has served as the Secretary of the Commission on Audit, National Treasurer of the Philippines, and the Lead Convenor of Social Watch Philippines.
