Nilinaw ng Department of Agriculture na hindi pa maaaring ibenta sa mga palengke at ilan pang pamilihan ang mga bagong dating na sibuyas na inangkat mula China.
Ayon kay DA Deputy Spokesman Rex Estoperez, sumasailalim pa sa second border inspection ng Bureau of Plants and Industry ang unang batch ng imported onions na dumating noong Biyernes, Enero 20.
Sa kabila nito, umaasa anya sila sa kagawaran na magmumura na ang sibuyas sa pagdating ng mga shipment bukod pa sa pagsisimula ng anihan.
Ikinukunsidera rin ng DA na magpataw ng price cap sa imported onions, pero aminado si Estoperez na dapat tiyaking hindi ito mababa sa local production cost upang hindi maapektuhan ang kita ng mga magsasaka.
Pinag-aaralan na ng kagawaran na ipako sa P100 hanggang P150 ang presyo ng kada kilo ng sibuyas kumpara sa cost of production na hindi aabot ng P100.
