Patay ang labing isang (11) sundalo habang sugatan ang pitong (7) iba pa matapos tamaan ng sariling airstrike ng Armed Forces of the Philippines o AFP sa Marawi City.
Ayon kay Brig. General Restituto Padilla, spokesman ng Armed Forces of the Philippines, sa hindi pa malamang dahilan ay nag-iba ng direksyon ang ibinagsak na bomba ng kanilang eroplano.
Bumuo na anya ng board of inquiry si AFP Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año na syang inatasan ng Department of National Defense (DND) na manguna sa imbestigasyon.
“One of our SF260 Aircraft conducting airstrike, that day was successfully hitting its assigned target in its earlier sorties. However, it was unfortunate that the last ordinance round, it delivered when wayward for an unknown reason and accidentally hit and caught the lives of our ground forces”.
“Immediately following this unfortunate incident, a board of inquiry was created on the instructions of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff to determine what went wrong and insure no such incident ever happen again”, ani Padilla.
“It will be the call of the commander of DND the strikes, pero medyo limitahan muna natin yung strike to the aircraft that can deliver accurately. The first aircraft it targets squarely yung pangalawa kase, dala-dalawa kasi yan eh, they’re operating in tandem. So, we do not know yet kung anong nangyari, we are still investigating”, pahayag ni Lorenzana.
