Tiniyak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na magpagpapatuloy ang sinimulang rehabilitasyon ng pamahalaan sa Manila Bay.
Sa kanyang State of the Nation Address, binalaan ng pangulo na ang mga establisyimento na patuloy na nagtatapon ng dumi sa karagatan at sumasira sa kalikasan.
Gayundin, umaasa si Pangulong Duterte na maisasagawa sa kanyang termino ang pagpapalipat ng lahat ng mga naninirahan sa gilid ng mga estero at mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng environmental laws.
“There are those who violate environmental rules. I’am giving due notice to the LGUs and other stake holders of tourist destinations to take extra steps in the enforcement of our laws and the protection of our environment. This 2019, we just officialy started the Manila Bay rehabilitation. Do we have a long way to go? We are encouraged by the test results of the waters near Padre Faura.”
Samantala, pinuri naman ni Pangulong Duterte ang matagumpay na rehabilitasyon ng Boracay island matapos itong isara sa publiko sa loob ng anim na buwan.
Partikular na pinapurihan ng pangulo ang kanyang mga gabinete na bumubuo ng Boracay Interagency Task Force.
