Kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) ang kauna – unahang kaso ng local transmission ng 2019 corona virus disease (COVID-19) sa Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, ito aniya ang 62 taong gulang na lalaki na una Greenhills, San Juan.
Dagdag ni Duque, naipasa umano ng COVID-19 victim ang virus sa kaniyang asawa at nagpositibo rin ito matapos isailalim sa masusing pagsusuri sa Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Dahil dito, sinabi ni Duque na nadagdagan pa ang kaso ng mga kumpirmadong apektado ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas na ngayo’y nasa anim na.
The DOH is currently exhausting all its efforts to identify others who may have come in contact with the confirmed cases to ensure this localize transmission does not progress to community spread. In light of the confirmation of the localize transmission in the country and anticipation of possible sustained community transmission DOH has raised COVID-19 alert system to code red sublevel 1, I repeat code red sublevel 1,” ani Duque.
Kasunod nito, sinabi ni Duque na kasama si Senador Bong Go, inirekumenda na nila kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na magdeklara ng state of public health emergency na posibleng gawin sa Lunes, Marso 9.
At this stage of localize transmission, intensified contact tracing and home quarantine of close contacts of confirmed cases improved hospital preparedness, enhance severe acute respiratory illness surveillance and activation of other laboratories outside of RITM to increase capacity to diagnose are now being implemented. This declaration is a signal to all concerned agencies, local government units and health care providers to be ready to implement plan response measures,” ani Duque.
